Waterwalker

Bill Mason’s Waterwalker explores Ontario wilderness by canoe at a pace that is as meandering as a lazy river but never dull. The quality of the film and the sound design is evidence of the National Film Board’s sterling international reputation. With wildlife and whitewater footage, Mason’s unpretentious, canoe-obsessed narration and the obligatory Bruce Cockburn soundtrack, the film is essential viewing. Released in 1984, you can now view it in the NFB’s newly launched Screening Room.
