The Arctic blast that came down in late February made for some chilly temperatures in much of the Coast Mountains but on Vancoouver Island the cold air ran into some warm wet precip off the Pacific Ocean and the result was some of the nicest snow conditions the Island has seen in years. Dry Coastal powder is considered an oxymoron in some circles but on days like this– when you’re literally choking on the stuff and plowing into the white room on board, ski or sled– it’s hard to imagine better snow anywhere on the planet and i was able to snap these shots on my iPhone 4. Vancouver Island, who knew.
