Whistler BC. It seems like winter is keeping ‘er going up here in the Coast Mountains but that won’t stop the biggest party of Spring from dropping in April 15-25. The Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival is coming up fast, with huge snowboard action when Monster Energy presents The Show. There’s a reason snowboarding is the hottest thing since sliced bread fresh out the toaster and this event will demonstrate that.

As well Whistler is in for some high flying good times at the World Skiing Invitiational which will feature the first big-ass skeir halfpipe comp since that sport got accepted into the Olympic line-up.
Of course the music, arts and culture events are no joke either. The hottest ticket this year is the already sold out 72-Hour Filmmaker Showdown, a contest where sleep is not an option as you rush to shoot, edit and produce a movie in just three days. First prize is something like Ten grand cash and a bunch of other good stuff.
The local filmmakers used to have a lock-down on this event but in the past few years the bar has really been getting raised. I personally made the finals 4 times and never won a thing so now i take the guaranteed money and host the event.
Check out the 2010 Champ Panty Bloom, as well as the people’s choice winner, The War of 1910 and/or 1924, below and stay tuned for more WSSF hype coming at you in the next week. Snow, bluebird days, big airtime, free music, patios (hot or not), and creativity is what Spring in the Coast Mountains is all about.
