In Whistler, this time of year, snow equals excitement so you can imagine what pics like this do for the morale around town. Last season was one of the snowiest in recent memory so who knows what this winter will bring but it is always fun to hang out in the village this time of year and listen to all the optimism– “I heard it’s a two-year cycle,” or “I heard it’s gonna be even deeper this season because of all the volcanos and earthquakes lately” or “god wills it deeper and so shall it be” (okay, i made that last one up).
In reality, no one ever really knows what kind of season it will be but images like this certainly build the stoke and keep the excitement levels high, and when those first flakes fall in Whistler Village, you can literally see the stoke in everyone’s eyes.
Having grown up in Whistler since elementary school, my own personal rule is “Snow in the Valley by Halloween = Another good year” but really all we can do is wait, and wait, and wait, and ski.
