This 6-minute film, shot, edited and produced in its entirety in just 7 days last spring is the epitomé of films being produced in this contest format.
Parallels, created by Nicolas Teichrob and Ethan Merrick, the pair of masterminds at Dendrite Studios, was part of the 2011 Intersection competition at the TWSSF in Whistler, BC. Parallels explores parallel experiences of the moments created by playing in the mountains. The guys who made this got a mere 20 hrs. of sleep in seven days but still kept the creative juices flowing. Tricky layering techniques are often hard to pull off without being cheesy, but Dendrite nailed that part. The film is not overshadowed by too-powerful music, rather the track they selected keeps the film’s pace moving along perfectly. Personally, I think Dendrite was robbed by not winning Intersection in 2011. Can’t wait to see what they pull out this year.
