A Thing of Beauty — Valhalla’s Naked Ski Segment

Bare-assed chairlift riding to cliff airs wearing nothing more than socks and a smile, Valhalla’s naked ski segment is already sparking laughter through dark cinemas across the world, with skiers and non-skiers alike. This segment really is a thing of beauty, a throwback to the good ‘ol days when skiing was all about pure unadulterated FUN. It would be awesome to see some outtakes from this day(s) of shooting. Did the skiers and riders get warm blankets to heat up after a spill in the snow or did they just suck it up, hop on the chairlift and keep going? I hope they at least were given shots of whiskey at the bottom to keep up the morale, although judging by the shit-eating grins it looks as though the morale was already sky high.

  1. God I love living in this neck(d) of the woods! Brilliant video. :)

  2. Jason says:

Great video. This article though… This segment really is a thing of beauty, a throwback to the good ‘ol days when skiing was all about pure unadulterated FUN.

What does the author of this think skiing is about now?

  3. Danny Foster says:

So COOL only in the Kootenays can you have this much “exposure” to wicked snow

  4. Todd Lawson says:

Thanks Jason. Well, a lot of skiing these days is about intense races and competitions and sponsorships — the opposite of skiiing naked really.

  5. Jonathan Wells says:

Not to be a killjoy, but judging by the list of companies at the end of this video, it is at least partly about sponsorship. The skiiers do seem to be enjoying themselves, though.

  6. Ski Pole says:

    That was unnecessary.

I mean, the heart rate monitor that the guy was wearing @ 1:10.

  7. NitWit says:

Can’t see the purpose in it.

  8. Norm Ferguson says:

Laughed all the way. I expected the naked skiing to be on the groomed runs, not in the deep and steep. Crazy. Loved it.

  9. geoff says:

    <3 WhiteWater

  10. Pdog says:

I think I saw some cracks in the snow…

  11. Ryan Beggs says:

No heart rate monitor. Try Avi Beacon.

    Loooooved it

  12. livnjoy says:

Expression of freedom to its’ fullest. That was awesome!

  13. _up_ says:

Love this song! Does anyone know what it is called?

  14. pharrel says:

    Ski porn!

  15. Lucas says:

The song is “Nobody But Me” by the Human Beinz

  16. Jack says:

Terrific piece of ski filming ~ well done.

  17. MtRuapehu says:

HAHAHA! That looks fun! But perhaps I wouldn’t try it on icy Turoa…

  18. Nick says:

And judging by the skiing grabs etc. I think this is actually shot in fairly recent years. Great vid though.

  19. Me says:

Totally pointless, lets just get naked while doing everything, as long as people support this kind of stupid videos/activities we will see pointless things like that in our world.

  20. joe says:

That looked like it was S”no”W fun for everyone. As usual the chair ride was probably the coldest part.

  21. kylabee says:

    Love it.
Brave and confident peeps to do this.
    Brrr.

  22. Nice to see so many young people outside doing fun, athletic stuff, just for the thrill of it — yeah, NAKED, for no real point but the fact life is for living and doing wacky sh_t sometimes — and so much ‘un-self-mutilated’ flesh. Not a single tattoo marring all that skin for the sake of ‘improving one’s appearance’. Resist the passing fashion fad, folks. It’s highly addictive and leaves the same permanent physical damage that crystal meth does.

  23. SkyKapture says:

I’ve got a hard-on… seeing all that amazing powder!

  24. AP says:

    White people

  25. Slam says:

I noticed some avi beacons, but can’t figure out where they kept their probes and shovels?! 8)

  26. AStarr says:

Very cool to see this filmed at Whitewater. This short reminds of an old advertisement for Red Mountain back in the late 70′s / early 80′s of a cartoon flasher on skis with the caption, “Expose Yourself to Big Red…” Good fun!

  27. Steve says:

Most amazing photography, Felt for the guys as there would be a lot of stress on certain anatomical parts but this was and remains a lot of fun .. Well done and very tasteful

  28. Rose says:

I thought this stopped 40 years ago. Glad to see they are keeping with tradition.

  29. ty says:

Too many dicks and not enough tits, sick video though!

  30. Jimmy says:

Amazing ! Real breath of fresh air! This may be a good way to reconnect with his body and the eyes of others.

  31. Mammoth Hunter says:

Hey, I’m the first one to get nekkid when I can, but that just looks plain COLD. Just a bit too much snow in the ice hole, I think. Great vid, but I might save mine for a warm beach or a sunny forest. :)

  32. Yves says:

I guess this is what they call “Skiing virgin snow”

  33. juan gil says:

    HAHA!
    I am so jealous.
I love how everyone is having SO much fun in this.
I gotta try this at some point…maybe this coming ski season here in Cali.
    =D

  34. Jives says:

Part of the beauty, is the pointlessness. Loved it.

  35. Chip says:

Brings me back to closing day in Crested Butte circa 1975 skiing the bumps on The North Face…don’t tell my kids…

  36. cq says:

I don’t see the point of it. Why go to the top of the mountain if you are just going to go back to the bottom?

  37. christine crossley says:

this just picked me up….honestly……freedom and in the powder…well? loved this soooo much!!!
